Royal Wedding Kitsch

Royal Wedding Kitsch, originally uploaded by Campobello Island.

Couldn't go to London this spring without coming home with some Royal Wedding Souvenirs. I bought the little plate for my aunt and the Tea Caddy for myself.

R.H.S. Garden Wisley

R.H.S. Garden Wisley, originally uploaded by Campobello Island.

For my Birthday treat I took the train to Woking so I could visit the R.H.S. Garden at Wisley. I have seen several garden programs that featured the garden and I have wanted to get there for years now. It certainly did not disappoint.

Canterbury Cathedral

Canterbury Cathedral, originally uploaded by Campobello Island.

Another beautiful warm sunny day. A day trip by train to Kent and Canterbury. Haven't been there since 1976. Enjoyed visiting the Cathedral again even though you now pay 9 pounds to get it, which really ticks me off. I've been searching for a Cream Tea ever since I arrived in the UK and managed to find one in a little tea shop not far from the Cathedral.

Some video of the London attractions including the London Eye.

Beautiful day in London

London Eye, originally uploaded by Campobello Island.

A lovely warm spring day in London. Spent the day doing all the tourist things including a ride on the London Eye.

View from the London Eye

Did a lot of walking and my feet are telling the story tonight. I didn't stay to watch the changing of the guard, I've seen it twice before but I love to walk down the Mall and through St. James Park.

I finished the day off with an evening stroll through The Regents Park which is just a short walk from the Hotel where I'm staying.

A day on Jersey

I flew to Jersey for the day mostly to find the memorial to Portia Owen Hemery. Portia's father William Fitzwilliam Owen was granted Campobello Island and there is a memorial to Portia in St. Anne's Church on the island. She died and is buried on Jersey and her memorial there is in St. Luke's church. After finding the memorial I walked around St. Helier and the water front before flying back to Guernsey.

A beautiful morning in St. Peter Port. We walked up to the Candie Gardens in another section of the city, well worth the walk.

Nazi underground hospital Guernsey. Built with slave labour.

Visited the underground hospital this afternoon. Very depressing all I could think of was the hundreds of slaves who died constructing it. Can't imagin how miserable a place the world would be today if the Germans had won the war.
