Grape Harvest & Jelly Making, Potatoes, Chillies & Beets
A good grape harvest considering it is only off one vine. I make a batch of Grape Jelly, harvest a couple of varieties of potatoes, the Thai Chillies are plentiful and starting to ripen and a look at the brassicas and beets in the hoop house.

Hot Pepper Jelly, Russian Blue Potatoes & Dehydrating Tomatoes
Using more of the great harvest of chilli peppers, this time to make Hot Pepper Jelly. Harvested one of my two grow pots of Russian Blue Potatoes, just had to cook some to see if they retain their colour after being cooked. Dehydrating some of the tomatoes to make a dried tomato soup base.

The cups and ounces version:
Hot Pepper Jelly

Cook Time: 15 Minutes
Ready In: 1 Hour 45 Minutes
Servings: 48
"Enjoy this spicy treat on crackers with cream cheese. It also makes a festive holiday appetizer."
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups finely chopped red
bell peppers
1 1/4 cups finely chopped
green bell peppers
1/4 cup finely chopped
jalapeno peppers
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 (1.75 ounce) package
powdered pectin
5 cups white sugar
Directions:
1. Sterilize 6 (8 ounce) canning jars and lids according to manufacturer's instructions. Heat water in a hot water canner.
2. Place red bell peppers, green bell peppers, and jalapeno peppers in a large saucepan over high heat. Mix in vinegar and fruit pectin. Stirring constantly, bring mixture to a full rolling boil. Quickly stir in sugar. Return to full rolling boil, and boil exactly 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and skim off any foam.
3. Quickly ladle jelly into sterile jars, filling to within 1/4 inch of the tops. Cover with flat lids, and screw on bands tightly.
4. Place jars in rack, and slowly lower jars into canner. The water should cover the jars completely, and should be hot but not boiling. Bring water to a boil, and process for 5 minutes.
Metric version:

Red Hot Sauce, Egyptian Walking Onions & Lady Bugs
I found a great recipe for Hot Sauce and harvested a lot of my chilli peppers and all of the ripe tomatoes to make a batch. A closer look at Egyptian walking onions not that it is time to plant next years crop. A look at some Lady Bugs that are doing a great job of cleaning up on the aphids.

Perennial food garden and garden update
I've been planting perennial fruit and vegetable plants in my new sheet mulched area for some time now but haven got around to showing it in a video until now. I recently cleaned out the large chicken coop and aded to the size of the sheet mulched area. A look at some of the fruit that is ready to pick and in the hoop house the grapes are ripening, the chillies are doing well and I have the largest eggplant I've ever grown.

Chicks Exploring the Great Big World
The 12 Chantecler Chicks and the 5 mixed breed bantam chicks are out for their first time to free range and explore the bigger world.
Crown Peas, Sweet Potatoes, Lavender and more
A short update of the garden and hoop house. First time I've grown Crown peas very surprised to see why it is called the Crown Pea. The lavender is in full bloom and full of bees. The two new raised beds with Sweet Potatoes, Endive, Parsnips and Salsify are doing very well. In the hoop house a look at the first tomatoes starting to ripen, the onions, peppers and the grapes.

Chickens and Garden
Wow what a learning curve the GoPro is a very small camera but incredibly complex and powerful. Day one and of course I just had to try it out. Hopefully future videos will be better produced. From what I see now I will likely mix clips from my regular camcorder with clips from the GoPro as both have features which I like and are exclusive to the particular camera. Bare with me please LOL.

Clearing off
My first little clip with the GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition, whatever all that means. We have just come through three days of rain with two major thunderstorms so I did a time-lapse of the clouds starting to clear away. One frame every 2 seconds with the wide angle lens. No sound track.
