Lovely warm weather so I made my planting mounds and transplanted the corn, squash and pumpkin seedlings and planted the bean seed in my Three Sister Permaculture garden. The night before I planted this I had coons in the garden digging up a row of beans that had just been planted. I don't think they were interested in the bean seed I suspect they were checking the freshly turned earth for grubs. I'm pleased to say that the Three Sisters survived their first night, when I inspected the garden this morning there had not been any further damage. I could see where the coons had been in the area though there were some new holes dug in the path going out to the garden. Hopefully they have decided that the grub feast is more plentiful in the lawn than in the raised beds.

You have made your garden pests seem very exotic!! Over here in the UK the worst we get is the slugs. I am lucky to have the occasional fox or badger, but not digging the veggies, just passing through!
I would never use the words exotic and raccoon in the same thought.LOL I'm fortunate to live on a fairly large property 8.5 acres 7 acres of which is wild forest and you never know what will come out of the woods next with thoughts of eating your garden or livestock, deer,raccoon, coyote,weasel and rabbits. We also have bobcat and linx (Which have not been a problem so far) not to mention the neighbours free range dogs. I'm raising a small chicken flock this year after a 20 year hiatus and I'm constructing a maximum security coop and yard which will be surrounded by a 4 foot high electric fence.
